Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport of Rio de Janeiro (IATA code: GIG, ICAO code: SBGL), better known as Galeão International Airport and Rio de Janeiro International Airport, is an airport in the city of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and is named after the Brazilian musician Antonio Carlos Jobim.
It is located on the Ilha do Governador (Governor's Island), in the northern part of the city of Rio de Janeiro, approximately 20 km from the city center, and is accessed by the Presidente João Goulart Highway and then by Vinte de Janeiro Avenue.

To get to downtown Rio de Janeiro you can take one of the Empresa Real buses, which also runs routes to some important beaches and hotels. The trip takes approximately 40 minutes and has a frequency of approximately one hour. Rio de Janeiro Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport, also known as Rio de Janeiro Airport, is located on Gobernados Island, north of the city of Rio de Janeiro and approximately 20 km from downtown. It is the most important international airport in Brazil, built in 1952 and currently operated by Infraero (Empresa Brasileira de Infra Estrutura Aeroportuaria).
The airport has two terminals identified as TPS 1 and TPS 2, the first with an annual passenger traffic of about 7 million and the second with 8 million passengers per year. Each terminal has 12 boarding bridges and is connected by conveyor belts. There is a project for the construction of a third and fourth terminal to meet the current high demand.
The airport has the largest runway in the country and is interconnected with all of Brazil and 18 foreign countries, being the second hub for international flights in Brazil.
There are phone booths and Wi-Fi hotspots distributed throughout both airport terminals. You will also find a large number of cafes, restaurants and bars in TPS1 and TPS2, as well as a large number of gift stores and other stores, including some duty-free shops. Another part of the airport has a 24-hour medical center and a pharmacy.
Rio de Janeiro airport has facilities adapted for the disabled, including access ramps, elevators, telephones and special toilets, as well as reserved parking spaces.
The only business facilities available at the airport are inside the Luxor Hotel, located on level 3, blue zone of TPS1.
In both airport terminals you will be able to access information desks: In TPS1 the blue zone is located on the second floor, while in TPS2 it is located on the departures floor. On the other hand, there are computers providing information distributed throughout the TPS2 area.
The airport's financial center houses several bank branches, ATMs, post offices and currency exchange offices and is located at TPS 1.
The airport has a parking area distributed over several floors as well as an outdoor parking area.
Within the airport grounds there are two hotels: the Pousada, located in the red zone, level 1 of TPS1; and the Luxor, in the same Terminal, level 3, blue zone. You will also be able to get information and make reservations at the lodging counters located in TPS1, level 3, which are open 24 hours a day
